Golden sits where Clear Creek exits the foothills, framed by North and South Table Mountains to the east and Lookout Mountain to the west. It was the capital of the Colorado Territory in the 1860s, and its downtown along Washington Avenue retains that era’s brick storefronts.

Vanessa co-listed and sold a home in Golden’s Apple Meadows neighborhood and represented clients in Applewood, along West 32nd Avenue.

Housing character

Golden proper has a compact mix of Victorian-era homes near downtown, mid-century neighborhoods on the mesas, and hillside homes with canyon and Table Mountain views. East of the city limits, the Applewood neighborhoods of unincorporated Jefferson County are known for larger lots, mature trees, and 1950s–70s ranches and two-story homes, with the Applewood Golf Course and Rolling Hills Country Club nearby. Apple Meadows, off West 58th Avenue in the 80403 area, is a neighborhood of 1970s single-family homes.

Outdoors and daily life

Clear Creek runs through downtown with a whitewater park and a paved trail. North Table Mountain and South Table Mountain offer mesa-top trail networks, and Lookout Mountain Road climbs directly from town. Golden is home to the Colorado School of Mines and to Coors’ original brewery, and it is roughly 15 miles west of downtown Denver via US 6 or I-70.
