Homeownership was not a given. That is the point.
Vanessa grew up in Bogotá, Colombia, where owning a home was out of reach for most families, including her own. She earned a degree in finance there, then became the first in her family to leave the country, arriving in the United States at twenty-one as an au pair.
Banking followed. As a personal banker with U.S. Bank she handled deposits and lending for everyday households, learning how people actually qualify for, and get tripped up by, a mortgage. She later stepped out of the workforce to raise her daughters and, in those years, began buying, renovating, and reselling houses on her own account. That was her real estate education: budgets, contractors, timelines, and what a renovation does or does not return at resale.
She earned her Colorado real estate license in 2020. The reason, in her words, was to show her daughters what was possible: to be a mother, a businesswoman, and a leader who listens, at the same time. In 2023 she co-founded The Denago Group at Compass with her business partner Mark Jacobsma, and the two were profiled in Denver Real Producers magazine.

The finance lens
Loan structure, rate buydowns, HOA and metro-district costs, and property taxes shape a monthly payment as much as the list price does. Vanessa reads the numbers the way a banker would, because she was one.

Much of her business is repeat clients and referrals from investors and landlords who value a steady hand in complicated transactions and someone who returns calls.

Latina Village
Outside of real estate, Vanessa serves as Chief Operating Officer of Latina Village, a Colorado nonprofit that funds scholarships for Latina women pursuing higher education and hosts an annual gathering of Latina leaders and entrepreneurs, including a pitch competition and an artisan market.
Coffee, fútbol, and live music
Vanessa lives in Parker with her family and their dog. She will tell you the best coffee in Denver is black, Colombian, and served somewhere local. She follows the Colombian national team and Liverpool FC, keeps music playing whether she is working or not, and spends free weekends at concerts, breweries, and wineries along the Front Range.
