Castle Rock sits roughly 30 miles south of downtown Denver along Interstate 25, where the Front Range foothills give way to rolling prairie, scrub oak, and sandstone outcrops. The town is named for the flat-topped butte that rises above its historic downtown, and much of its residential growth over the past two decades has followed the canyons and ridgelines that surround it.
Vanessa’s current inventory is concentrated here, including a custom residence in The Canyons and a main-floor-living home in Cobblestone Ranch. She has also represented buyers in The Meadows and in the Villageview area on the town’s south side.

Housing character
Castle Rock’s housing stock is predominantly newer than Denver’s: large master-planned communities built from the late 1990s onward, with the most recent phases still under construction. Expect two-story and ranch-style single-family homes on quarter-acre lots, a growing share of paired homes and townhomes near downtown, and custom and semi-custom estates along the canyon rims in the 80108 ZIP code.
Douglas County property taxes, metro-district fees, and HOA dues vary significantly between subdivisions, and they matter to a monthly payment. This is one of the first things Vanessa reviews with buyers comparing communities here.
Recreation and open space
Philip S. Miller Park spans roughly 300 acres on the town’s west side, with a 200-step Challenge Hill, zip lines, an amphitheater, and the Miller Activity Complex. Rock Park’s 1.5-mile loop leads to the base of the Rock itself, with views over downtown and toward Pikes Peak. Trail networks connect most newer subdivisions to the town’s broader open-space system, and Castlewood Canyon State Park lies a short drive to the southeast.
Downtown and daily life
Historic downtown Castle Rock centers on Wilcox and Perry Streets, with Festival Park hosting a farmers market and a season of outdoor events. The Outlets at Castle Rock sit at the I-25 interchange, and the Promenade at Castle Rock has added a large grocery-anchored retail district on the north end of town. Douglas County School District RE-1 serves the area.
